I would definitly say it's the throttle. It shifts into gear very smooth (up to detent on control box) in both directions. I still don't like the fact that I'm at the end of my adjustment for reverse, but that's another isuue I believe. With the cables disconnected the other day, I can cylce through the motions at the control box and it feels good. As you mentioned, the throttle on the motor is a little stiff as it has alot of cam action a spring to overcome. We put a little lube around the timmer base area the other day, this helped a little. While we were out fishing though it seemed to be getting stiffer.
