Motor Help?

Went to a Yamaha dealer today to look at a used 2001 Yamaha 150 HPDI 25". There asking $6,000. Motor has very low hrs, guy bought a leftover boat & motor then decided he wanted a 200 hp. With my 89 Yamaha 115 hp top speed is about 26mph at 5300 rpm. I'm thinking i should top out in the mid thirities at lower rpms using less gas with the new motor. Not sure the HPDI is a good thing I know they had some problems with the 200 & 250 HPDI models. My boatyard (old school) mechanic likes carb. motors, says all these motors with their electronics and salt water don't mix? Is the Yamaha saltwater series the same? I was really trying to hold off till the new E-Tecs came out ,they have so much to offer. Crusher
