When I lived in FL I had a bunk for my 17 whaler. I literally never had the winch cable out more than a foot! Easiest boat ever to launch and load. I'd power load it right to the stop evrytime, leave it gear, reach over the bow, hook up cable, crank about a turn and half, shut off engine, done.
Launching was just as easy, just like someone stated above: Find the sweet spot on your trailer fender, mine was 3-4". I had an eye on my bowline, maybe 8', loop it over post for the winch, tap the brakes when your fender hits that spot, slides right off. If I moved quick, I could get out of the truck and grab the bowline before it got taught, if not the boat would spring back lightly toward the trailer. I was wondering why it seems that most people go with rollers in the North??? Also, seems like a lot more galvanized than aluminum in the north and vice-versa for the south.
