I have an 88 V20 with an mercruiser I/O. Where do I get the cables and are there any tutorials on how to do it? I***8217;ve attached a picture of the room I have to work with. It doesn***8217;t seem like much room to me but I***8217;ve never done this. Any help is appreciated.
I'm unfamiliar with I/O but...

1. Is it in the water?
2. Does it shift and throttle ok at the motor without the cables?

3. with cables disconnected from motor, do they move easily with the shift lever?

4. I'm guessing the handle comes off the binnacle so you can remove the whole thing from inside the gunnel.

5. Cable at West Marine, Amazon, most marine supply houses. you will need to know the length of cables you need. look for number on existing cables or measure them. 2 feet too long is better than a foot too short.

6. How exactly were you adjusting them?
