With the setback I have the motor as high as it will go and maintain water pressure. My spare prop is a Tempest 14.5 x 23p and is the fastest prop I have, light load turning 5900 rpm 60.1 mph. The motor is a stock 250 XS Merc. I think 250 is about where it is at for hp. The old 250 EFI had a better power to weight ratio so it was faster, retired because it used twice as much fuel. The best I ever saw was 63.1 upwind, down current with the 23p Tempest on the limiter. It dawned on me later that I could have had a 2 to 3 MPH current that day..

None of these top end numbers are very efficient, lots of prop slip. My MPH could be much better if I shed the T-top and baitwell/leaning post combo. That has got to be costing me some efficiency.

Might even go faster if you jumped overboard to reduce some weight after getting it fully trimmed out ?
