Scupper Update
We had a thread going earlier about installing thru hull scuppers as opposed to having the decks drain into the bilge.
I have thru hull scuppers on my boat and people wanted to know how they worked. Well I have been out twice in probably the windiest conditions I will be in in the boat and here is what I have observed.
The scuppers will drain slowly with the boat at rest and will not let water into the boat even when standing in the corner on the upwind side of the boat.
BUT, the decks dont all run to the rear of the boat where the scuppers are. Water will collect on the decks in areas around the helm and will not flow back to the transom until you are under way. So when you clean up at the end of the day, you have to sweep the water back to the scuppers where it drains slowly.
