Cool, it did look like mine was originally set up that way and not that someone modified it....my theory is that the gas gauge is original to the boat regardless of what kind of outboard power and controls were put on it so it was powereed by the boats electrical system rather than the outboards.....I guess having it on a momentary switch would prevent you from accidently leaving it powerered up and draining your battery? Either way Its not a problem really , I never rely on the gauge anyway and I can always check the level whenever I want....just wanted to make sure something funky wasnt going on.
