With the end of the year coming (work) and a young chid at home I have not had the chance to get out at night to give it a try. I have been reading other fishing sites and it seems to be slow for most people right now. Some say a couple of days before and after a full moon stripers don't seem to hit much. Not sure how true that is because it seems I have done pretty well on full moons. Keep trying and also try anchoring at the bend MMBT and chunking for them as I described above. Also read up on the fishing reports on this site and it sould give you a good idea of what, where, and how people are catching fish. You do have to sign up and then click Message Boards and then Virginia Anglers for the best info for this area.
