I believe they were great engines, the forerunners to the new ETEC's.
In fact the fellow from Evinrude told me there is very little difference between them, it has to do with electronics and upgraded injectors. The FICHTS have a bad name from the early years when they were blowing powerheads on a regualr basis but later years such as this 2001 should be a great engine as long as service records and any updates from the factory were done.
