I believe they were great engines, the forerunners to the new ETEC's.
In fact the fellow from Evinrude told me there is very little difference between them, it has to do with electronics and upgraded injectors.
The FICHTS have a bad name from the early years when they were blowing powerheads on a regualr basis but later years such as this 2001 should be a great engine as long as service records and any updates from the factory were done.

98-99 were the worst, espescially the 150/175's. The 200/225's were better. 00-02 received MANY upgrades and made them ALOT better. 03+ are the best FICHTS, 2003 is when BRP took over all aspects of the production. The ETEC's are essentially upgraded FICHT's, but BRP changed the name and came out with a VERY aggressive marketing team to get past the early FICHT problems that surrounded the 150/175's. The FICHT's are actually BETTER on fuel than an ETEC by close to 15% they say.

Thats a Sea Ox Hull, May Craft bought them in the mid to late 80's and killed the Sea Ox name in the early 90's

Same hull as mine, but some say the older ones like mine are better then the newer ones??
