On my 73 V20 the gas in tank had turned to varnish. I drained the tanks and then washed them out at the car was with the power hose. There was plenty of gunk coming out. Had problems later on with small pin holes in dip tubes so I had to steam the tanks and have a welder weld some fittings on the back of the tank about one inch from the bottom.
