Default Bow eye repair (inside)

Hey boys,

before you buy or get ready to hang your V to bottom paint it, you might want to check on this. I made this repair two years ago when I bought the boat. Pain in the *** to fix, but it needed it. Check out the album in my gallery under Bow eye repair. I guess 23 years of rain and water running down the main rod rusted her out. Make sure your front middle cleat is sealed good and tight.

here is the link

I dont think so....we will have to ask around to the other guys..... ??? that is what mine looked like when i bought her. look at my signature pic, the two front dock lines go to the cleat and it is held in place by the rod you see in the pics, the rod is like 2 feet long. Do you have that center middle cleat???

You only have that rod if you got the bow lift eye ring from the factory. The standard option did not include the metal rod. They only installed it on boats that got the extra option for the heavy duty bow ring so you could support the front of the boat with it and pick the front up with a crane for storing your boat.

As best I can tell from HAMMERS gallery, his has the standard cleat on the bow and not the lift eye ring. There pretty easy to tell apart. The heavy duty one has an actual eye in the center of it for atatching a large diameter rope, whereas the standard cleat is just that.

Mine has the lift eye / rod setup, but it is solid as in no rust. One time the deck had lossened up and slipped bellow the lift eye. It looked like the eye was sticking above the deck an inch or so. Freaked me out. I banged on the deck and wiggled the lift eye and it went back together. I need to seal it up real good, but I was going to put a plate underneath the deck first.
