we have a federal government and state governments. in a federacy, the federal gov has power over the state gov. in a confederacy, the state gov. has power over the federal gov. |

Wow, I didn't mean to open a can of worms.
I am third generation U.S., my great grand parents had nothing to do with the civil war, the indian wars, the Alamo or any other internal U.S. war. I just wish that people don't take out their grudges on me. I rented one of my apartments to an "Afro-American" in the past three months, rent has been late and there are always complaints. I fix issues as soon as they arise and treat my tenants the way I would want to be treated. But of course, I am the caucaion "THE MAN" that is holding back his kind. My son teaches in Los Angeles, so he is required to attend seminars on people and children. One that he attended showed that people living at the lower levels of society have what is called a "poverty mentality" it is a whole psychological study that shows that parents then pass this mentality on. Sorry for the rant, but sometimes it is just good to vent frustrations.

That "poverty mentality" knows no racial boundaries. A friend of mine worked in one of the gated communities here, side by side with many low-wage earners. Every day they passed by the many large homes owned by upper middle class to wealthy folks. Whenever he would ask one of them how they thought the homeowner might have amassed the money to buy such a home, the answer was the same:
"They stole it." So much for the hard-work equals reward ethic. :-/ |

I GREW UP THE YOUNGEST OF 4, WITH ONLY MY FATHER BRING HOME THE BACON. WE DID NOT HAVE ALOT BUT WE HAD EACH OTHER AND A GOOD FEAR OF GOD.
I WAS TOUGHT RIGHT FROM WRONG AND IF YOU WANT ANYTHING IN LIFE YOU HAVE TO WORK FOR IT. I SET MY GOALS HIGH AND MADE IT THREW HIGH SCHOOL AND INTO THE WORK FORCE. I TRY TO TREAT EVERYONE AS I WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED BUT SOME JUST WONT LET ME. I APPLIED MY SELF AT THE JOB S THAT I HAD AND WORKED MY WAY TO WHERE I AM TODAY. I BRING HOME TO A FAMILY OF 2 KIDS AND A GOOD WIFE ABOUT THE EQUVALENT OF THREE TIMES WHAT MY FATHER DID. WE STRESS EDUCATION TO OUR KIDS AS WELL AS GOD AND RIGHT FROM WRONG. HOPEFULLY THEY CAN GO EVEN FARTHER THAN I HAVE. WITH ALL THAT SAID, I DONT CARE TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY CANT DO ANY BETTER FOR THEMSELVES. SOME ARE HAPPY WHERE THEY ARE AND SOME DONT WANT TO TRY ANY HARDER. WHEN I WAS BUILDING MY OWN HOUSE (4.5 YEARS) I WOULD HAVE SEVERAL KIDS FROM THE AREA COME AND HELP AND PAID THEM FOR IT. ONE STANDS OUT FROM ALL THE REST. WHEN I TOOK HIM HOME THAT EVENING I ASKED IF HE WOULD LIKE TO HELP THE NEXT DAY, HIS REPLY WAS, AND I AM QUOTING HIM WORD FOR WORD, "I WANT THE MONEY BUT I DONT WANT TO WORK FOR IT". 10 YEARS LATER I SEE HIM AT THE MALL IN SALISBURY, DRESS LIKE AND ACTING LIKE ONE OF THOSE PUNKS THAT THINKS HE IS OWED SOMETHING FROM THE WORLD. BOTTOM LINE IF YOU WANT IT, GO GET IT. ASK MACOJOE HOW MANY TIME HE FELT LIKE QUITING BUT KEEP GOING.

BILL OF NON RIGHTS
ARTICLE I -- You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything. ARTICLE II -- You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means the freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be. ARTICLE III -- You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy. ARTICLE IV -- You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. ARTICLE V -- You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice but, from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in government run health care. ARTICLE VI -- You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair. ARTICLE VII -- You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen TV or a life of leisure. ARTICLE VIII -- You don't have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience. We hate oppressive governments and won't lift a finger to stop you from going to fight, if you'd like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform and a funny hat. ARTICLE IX -- You don't have the right to a job. All of us sure want all of you to have one, and will gladly help you in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. ARTICLE X -- You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness -- which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights. |

GOOD COMMENT, RACERX!!! I AGREE WITH THAT 100%
I'M A REFUGEE, AND THE ONLY THING I EVER ASKED IN THIS COUNTRY IS THE OPP. TO BE HERE, THE REST I CAN MAKE IT MYSELF. I HAVEN'T EVEN COLLECTED UNEMPLOYMENT IN 25 YEARS. AS FOR PIPE COMENT, SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPENS HERE IN MIAMI, IF YOU FIX YOUR HOUSE NICE, THE FIRST THING YOUR NEIGBOURS SAY: "HE'S A DRUG DEALER", TO ME, THAT'S THE WAY POOR SPIRITED PEOPLE JUSTIFY THAT OTHER SUCCEED AND THEY DON'T LESTERUS |
