RAP, be careful. Did you guys hear about the 26ft cat that capsized 15 miles off of Murrell's last week?

6 people washed off the deck. 4 made it back to the overturned boat. 75 yr old captain went to help 5th person back to boat but unable to do so. The 6 spent 17.5 hours in the drink and during that time captain had a "cardiac event". The 5th person tried to do CPR, but eventually had to turn loose of the captain. The 5 were rescued and reported to be hypothermic from the 70 degree water...

Saw it on CNN.com last week. They even had a file photo of the boat sitting at Marlin Qay marina.

What boat you gonna take out there?

Hey BR...thanks for concern, Bro...this cat is one I've been out on many times..."Phatt Katt" is my buddy's boat out of Toller's Marina just off Charleston Harbor...

...and yeah, I did hear about the incident last week...a real shame and if I don't make it back, you'll know I went down swingin'!!... ;) 8)...but the plan is to hook up many Yellowfin and Mahi and have a large time... ;D ;D ;D...we'll be pushin' away about 3:00 a.m. and runnin' dark for a couple of hours til we get to the hole...boat has radar and gonna have 2nd cat w/ us...I'm takin' the bean-bags and SNOOZIN' the ride out...he'll set the auto-pilot and man the helm w/ 2nd eyes...dependin' on seas, he'll run 24-26 kts if he can...long ride, but worth it once you're there... ;D ;D ;D...Big Tuna!!...get in my belly!!! ;D ;D

Marine Forecast update is about 10:30...we'll decide ''go or no'' then...lookin' good as big HIGH pressire movin' in from north...we'll see... 8)

God bless the captain. He lost his life saving another.

A big time hero in my book!

The parents of one of the players on my daughter's soccer team have been out several times w/ that captain on that boat...they are deeply saddened and say he was as fine a person as they'd ever encountered...I'd sure like to find out what caused that cat to roll???...

Shi! happens in the ocean and you see it all the time. I used to run chesapeake bay charters in the mid 80's on weekends out of Smith Point Virginia and a good friend of mine went down during the late december rockfish season, no mayday no nothing. He was on his way back to dock after dropping off 6 fisherman and that was it. To this day no one knows what happened but he must of hit a dead head or something that put a 9 inch hole in the hull and went to the bottom pronto. Frank

I'll tell you one thing that happens, sh!t in the water, floating debris, saw one today in raritan bay, full length telephone pole floating (bobbing) in water did not see it until I was right on top of it, missed it by a few feet. Last year a fellow I met was out in his brandy new 27 footerone of those nice Osprey's with a cuddy. Hit a log floating just under the surface ripped out his uout drive and started flooding boat instantly. Was able to stem the tide by stuffing some kind of towels in the hole while sending out maydays. Another fellow was able to tie off and tow him to the shore where they ran it up the beach. If he had been out at sea he would have sunk.
