Default Hey Pipe Dream

I pulled my fuel tank over the weekend and I saw that you used Triple M Plastics ... You got a phone number and will they remember the tank size. Mine is a 84 model sticker on tank says built in Perry, Fl. Was Triple M the best deal in your research. Would like to stay plastic this time. Also did you install or have it done...

Hey Zebra -- let me put my hands on the paperwork and I'll write you back. I haven't been on the board in a while! I'll get back to you tomorrow, hopefully!

Two numbers for Triple "M" --
207-985-4705 &
800-873-7767. *They might still have the drawings I sent them (I got them from a boat dealer who got them from Florida Marine Tanks, who supposedly got the specs from Wellcraft years ago). *I suppose an '84 would be the same as an '83? *I can probably lay my hands on the drawings if they don't still have them. *I was very happy with their work.
I had the installation done by professionals. *There are lots of things I'll try myself, but when it comes to fuel, and lots of it, I want it to be done right. *Plus, have you ever seen how that foam EXPANDS when they mix it? *WOW! * :o *You could actually do some damage with that stuff. *Just make certain that the bilge drain tube that runs underneath the tank stays free of debris and foam.

Well I decided to go with a welding company in Cape Canaveral. I took them the old tank and they are gonna make me the same thing only heavier guage allum. Thought about a plastic tank and found a guy who would make one but it was gonna be only 50 gall. didnt want to go down in cap. Guess I'll have someone install the tank also, but who. The alum. tank is $350 and 3 weeks to make and I'll pick it up so no shipping charge...

Zebra, that is considerably cheaper than mine was, plus I had to have mine shipped down to me. But there was no one in the area (that I could find) to make me a new one, so I had no alternative. A new aluminum tank should last you plenty long, anyway. As far as installation, I saw lots of boatyards in Canaveral, so maybe one of them could quote you a price. Or get with some of the other guys on this board, I think a few of them have installed a tank themselves and they could probably help you through it.

Good luck!
