I'm running a 15 x 17 stainless on my V20 with a 225 Johnson and get 5600 RPM at 47 to 50 MPH. So i would say a 17 pitch most likely for a 150 as well. you can run a 15 pitch and gain 200 to 250 more rpms than the 17 pitch but it will slow you down about 5 mph but give you more take off power with faster plane. good luck

Step, next question is, "what does mfg state max rpm to be?

"...if 5800, then you got the right prop...if 6000, then you can stand a lil' less PITCH... :)...

I have a 150 hp v-6 mercury and I run a 14 1/2 x 17" pitch SS four blade prop. I turn 5500 rpm at 43 mph (GPS). My three blade prop is about the same, however just a tad faster top end. With the four blade you come out of the hole right now.
