This is the first time I have ever posted to a forum and found this one after doing a quick google search. Hopefully this will get the word out for someone looking for this classic. Feel free to contact me for more information. My name is Bob and my direct e-mail is [email protected] I tried to post a photo and or a link but am new at this. . . Just search it on Florida Keys Craigslist where you will also find my phone number. |

$5200 for a 33 year old boat and a 10 year old motor/od does seem a little sporty. it looks real clean in the pics. not sure about the keys, but IO's are not a popular set up in a salt water boat in this part of fl.

| I appreciate the opinions

Thanks for the apology Destroyer even though there was no harm done. . . I gave you the benefit of the doubt and attribited your feelings with a good sense of humor. I understand your thoughts anyhow. I used to run a Jeep Wrangler rental business here in the Fabulous Florida Keys hence my sreen name and or e-mail address. Economy and real estate crash here put that to rest. I did acquire the boat for what I thought to be a great deal considering the newer power, and with the intent to sell for a profit despite the I/O set-up not being the most practical for the Keys and or South Florida. That is why I really appreciate being here as I could see this baby going North to fresh water and or to a family that may have grew up with one of these classics. The Keys are pretty busy now with the snow birds, so not the worst time to sell here. Took her on a sea trial today (it's sunny and in the 70's here!) and she really runs out nice despite a hesitant idle. Going to replace the water seperator / fuel filter and go from there as the boat had not been run off the trailer in a couple of years. May need a carb cleaning? Thanks again for the thoughts on all! I will consider any reasonable offers. . . Bob

I am not a master mechanic but a pretty good jack of all trades including OFF and ***. . . I would think some sort of carbuerator cleaner or fuel treatment might be more appropriate??? More humor. . . That is what you meant, right? I just never heard of Sea foam. . . Thought about the filter after the fact and realized that is not likely a problem seen as she runs strong off idle. I will pull the carb and check her out when I get a chance. . . Thanks for the advice. . .sabatoge or not. . . |

SeaFoam is the name of an auto/marine motor treatment. It is an injector, carburetor, and carbon cleaner. Also a fuel stabilizer. It frees lifters and rings. It's a de-icer and an anti-gel for your fuel. It also is an upper cylinder lube and it dries oil and fuel of water moisture. (like dri-gas) You can find it at most good marina and automotive stores. Go to www.seafoamsales.com for more info. The stuff will clean out your idle jets of any varnish or gunk that may have built up in them from the long term storage of sitting on that trailer. A word of advice... Like I said before, one of the most important things we do at this site is try to help each other. You'll never find us knowingly telling anyone something wrong when it comes to engines or boats. The advice we give out is a compilation of hundreds of years of boating by the members here. We do not joke about things like this. I am deadly serious. The ocean is a wonderful mistress, full of fun and good times, but she will rise up and kill you dead without a moments hesitation if you do not follow her rules. Rule #1 is maintain your boat. Part of that is proper maintenance of your boat's engine. SeaFoam is a good start. If it were me I'd get a portable 3 gallon marine fuel tank, fill it with fresh gas, put in 3 oz of Seafoam, put the boat in the water, hook up the portable tank, start the engine and just let it idle until the 3 gallons are all used up. DO NOT rev the engine..just let it idle.. go have a cup of coffee or whatever. Then I'd fill the main gas tank on the boat with fresh gas, put in the recommended amount of Seafoam and take the boat out for a spin on the water, varying between WOT (wide open throtle) and idle speeds. Give it a good run. I'm willing to bet that your idle problem will be gone. And yes, changing your fuel filter is always a good idea. Red skys at night.
