Question 93 evinrude 200 looper starting problem

fellas, ran fine on land with muffs 1 hr before launch. put gas in on way to ramp, primed bulb and started to fire and quit firing. noticed air in fuel line, so purged all lines and had consistent flow directly to pump. turned key on and only turning. checked spark at plugs and ok spark. was told that key switch needs to be depressed to activate fuel selinoid while turning over and only once. tried that still no go. frustrating since it worked fine with muffs i let her sit for 15 and tried again, no go. operated choke manually and held to figure shes flooded. still no go. maybe the old girl just didn't want to go yachting today at the lake. any suggestions as to what to try next [outside of divorce] would be greatly appreciated. thank you! richard

Try it again on the muffs.

There is way more back pressure when in water than on muffs. Could be carburetor or low compression.

Compression for that motor should be in the low 90's if it's anything like my 91' Johnson 200 Looper.

Buy six in line spark tester connect one to each cylinder run it on the muffs, guarantee to see some cylinders dropping out you may also use a flash light and look up under the flywheel check for any presence of melting gooey varnish stuff, any traces of it you will need to pull the flywheel and look at your trigger/stator.
