RAP, not a bad suggestion to add backing plates.
1/4" starboard should work well. I should have enough left over from the piece I bought to re-do my dash. On my hull, you could tell that there had been quite a strain put on one of the rod holders as the gunnel had some damage around where the holder was inserted(which I repaired). In a week or so I'm gonna be looking to buy new flush-mount holders so this post was right on time!!

I ordered 5 cheapie stainless models from bass pro. I cant justify 65 bucks a pop for lees. They just got to my house today, I'll let you know how they are!

Maybe y'all can help me with the gunnel mount issues...I have 5 myself. @ straight back aft and two angled outboard forward of the straight-backs. They don't angle nearly enough (the rigs I put in these are fished on my outriggers) and when a strike occurs, the line tends to rub on the aft rods. Now I know you guys know how fast a King or Mahi can burn line off!
The problem I've run into is the dern gunnels aren't wide enough to support the out-angled holders. Any ideas short of cut-outs? >:( |
