I guess the dealer comments are what may be going on, cause when we were at two different boat shows this year there was a general info type thing going on as to how Etecs are having some major problems blowing power heads very early in their life. Several reasons sited but the set up seems to be one of the major problems but not all of it.
Now the F150 Yammie and the Suzuki engines seem to be trouble free so far as I can find out and if I was re-powering today I think one of those two is where I would head. I have a dozen boaters I know that have the Yammie 150's in single or dual configurations and some with very high hours and love em.

yep its a 6 like yammie.
as willy stated prepping the e-tec properly has alot to do with their life span. I know this much from 1st hand experience to make an e-tec last. 1st make sure the dealer purged the oil system properly 2nd get a h20 pressure guage 3rd dont program for xd-100. 4th use any oil as long as its a DFI spec oil. 5th Run enging tuner through it every 300hrs. do this and years of enjoyment will follow. |
