That was a very cool boat in it's day. Actually it still is. I remember seeing these and thinking that every boat ought to have a hardtop.
I found these pictures on the web. My dad had one just like it right down to the motor and even today I can remember each piece of wood and how I sanded them. The deck over the bow was plywood with faux seams. I sanded right thru the veneer in one spot and thought I was gonna get killed but my dad just shook his head and installed an air horn over the spot to hide it. ![]()

MB that looks like an 18 ft thompson, I had one of those back in the early 80's leaked like a sive but it was a fun boat.

I loved those old aristocrafts. Very popular boat in the midwest lakes areas. We had a very similar boat without the hardtop. It was an 18' Speedliner made in St. Joe Missouri.
That wooden boat pictured is gorgeous and would probably be pretty quick with that 75 horse Johnson. Must be a meticulous owner--check out the custom made and beautifully varnished engine support. |

Meticulous, yes. Note that the inside of the plywood planking is still finished bright. That was a bear to keep up with. If you let that get away from you then sanding all those nooks and crannies... my hands hurt just thinking about it. Last edited by Monkey Butler; 12-07-2008 at 08:59 AM. Reason: Added text |

I like just about any boat I guess. Here is a link to a boat that I co-own with a buddy.
http://thebayguide.com/rec.boats/steve_pawlowskis.html ![]() We had a fallin' out of sorts and the boat has sat there for the past 5 or so years. You can hardly see her now for all the weeds growing in and around her. That's what we fought over, he wasn't holding up his end of the upkeep. If I went down the today and hacked her out and put a new water pump in he would joy ride until something else broke and then jus park it. |

My buddy and a freind of his are building a rep. of a 25 or 24 foot Crist Craft (spelling). They have completed the hull and are now doing the top side. Its a slow moving project and they are now on their 2nd year of building. The guy he is building this boat with screwed up and purchased the motor and lower unit and by the time they get the boat in the water the 3 year waranty will have run out.
