I had a 150 Force before going to a 150 E-tec. A 120 should push your boat but not at any great speed. Mine ran great until coming into the harbour and shifting it into reverse. It would stall and I could not get it started again. Not a great time for your motor to stall. You can get most parts for them but I would not go to any great cost trying to rebuild it. I sold my 1999 150 Force last year for $800. If you can afford more, I would say stay away from the Force. Billy Mac

Had a 125 force on a 18' bayliner bass boat. Performance was very impressive when it ran. Keep at least one spare powerpack with you.

One of the funniest things I ever saw boating involved a Force motor. My buddy had a force motor and his battery had gone dead. I was in my V with some friends and offered him a jump but he said it was easier just to pull start the motor. He took off the cover wraped the rope around the fly wheel and gave it a tug. Before we realized what happened we saw this big part go flying and splashed into the water. We look back at the motor and his fly wheel was that object flying through the air. It snaped right off the crank shaft (I think its the crank shaft). I looked back at him and said now I know why they call it a Fly Wheel. I felt bad for him but the 4 to 5 people in my boat and the couple in his were laughing and just could not stop.

When you asked if it was a Bayliner I thought back and this happened before I had my V and I was in a Bayliner. Not sure what kind of boat he was in but it could have been a Bayliner. We actualy had good luck with our Bayliner but it had a Volvo AQ125 I/O with a Volvo 280 lower unit.

Do like MJ says...run dont walk!

Mine is a 120...made by Merc and I LOVE it. Its been a great motor. The 125 you are looking at was one of the older crystler models correct? There was one on the V20 I was restoring and was a money pit which is why the previous owner got rid of the boat. I gave it to a buddy, he had it completely rebuilt and after a year still never got it running right and repowered his boat with a newer OMC.

RUN!!!

With that said, Ill repower with something else when it goes...Force parts are getting hard to find and are very expensive.
