|  Need Info 1999 Yamaha 175 
			
			I'm looking at a great deal on a Grady that has a 1999 Yamaha 175 saltwater series with precision blend. Is this a carb or fuel injected motor and what kind of compression should I be looking for. This boat has been sitting in this ladies garage for the past two years as her husband passed away and it only has like 10 hours on the motor.

			carbed engine. comp should be about 120 but if its lower and they all are within 10% of each other. let her roll, its fine. good engines dad has two 150's they are cold natured though, hard to start if sat up.

			So do these motors suck gas like a Johnson carb motor?

			not that bad...but still not as good as a direct injected engine. you'll burn about 40% more fuel than a DI. if you pur a big prop and run her easy you wont burn much fuel.

			Yamaha is a nice motor and the gas not to bad, I had a 89, 175 on my V20 and it was a great motor! The compression should be 120 but like said above if its lower and all are with in 10% should be fine, mine was 105 to 110 all the time, but when I got it she was in the 90's,the thing with Yamaha they like to carbon up after a while and a good De-carb brought ther compression right back up!

			Thanks for the info but the lady sold the boat before I could get off work and check the compression. I should have taken off and ran to her house. I was looking at a very clean 21' Grady White with a 1999 175 Yamaha which had less than 20 hours. The owner purchased the motor new then became sick and did not get to use it very often. He died last year and the boat has been garage kept sense he owned the boat. I had her down to $4,500 but wanted to just check compression but got beat out.
