Default Seastar steering question

Hey guys, would a side mount system work on a V20? I have only seen front mount systems used, but I have an oportunity to buy a side mount unit for a very good price. What are the benifits/draw backs between the two? Thanks for all your advise.

This is just a pure guess, but it may work on the older wider splashwells of the 70's boats, but probably not on the narrow wells from the 80's on up. The seastar website is pretty good about providing the needed dimensions, so check there.

what air said, the side mounts get in the way of splash wells, they are great to use if you have a steering tube issue as most of them don't go thru the steering tube
