frayed, sf is right on the money as is reel. You have bigger cojones than me just for trying something like that. Be persistant and the right matchup will happen with a little magic for all concerned. For what it's worth, one of Janine's co-workers adopted an infant daughter from China. It worked out so well that they are going to adopt a second little girl.

Thanks for the encouraging words fellas. I don't think we will try it again, it's way to painful if the same thing happens. I believe that if we were to get a kid as an infant, perhaps it could work. But you have to spend $$ to get one. Overseas adoptions are expensive, many thousands of $$ just to apply. You cannot get a healthy white baby, even through the state, unless you are lucky or rich, and I am neither. I'll look into the Big Brothers or some other mentoring org and take a kid fishing or sumfin.

Frayed, you done a great thing, even if it didn't work. These other guys are right. My best friends have adopted twice, once from Columbia, more recently from the States. They got reel lucky this last time around. Sounds like its time for a mental health day on the Frayed Knot, just check the drive oil before you go ;)

Frayed, Sorry for your heartache and pain. My wife and I couldn't wait for our son to leave home because he drove us crazy at times. Now that he is in the Air Force we would do anything possible to get him back home with us. You are a great man to do what you have done with the child. God will reward you when you least expect it....

Sorry to hear about your situation but she will rember what you did, for her entire life. You have built some happy memories which no one can ever take from you and what you did is more than most people would ever do. I think your idea about being a big brother is a very good idea as their are a many children needing someone they can look up to and give guidence. Like others have said things happen for a reason it just takes time to see the way life takes you.

frayed knot: Issues involving kids can be disappointing for a lot of reasons either yours or others believe me Ive been there and done that (my youngest son was shot when he was 17 and looks at things much differently now ) and I commend you for stepping up to the plate and giving it a swing..On another subject how is the striper fishing under the new bern bridges in the winter? We had a really crappy season here in Beaufort this year, they were here today gone tomorrow but I did hook up with some 8 to 11 pound hatteras blues in january but no stripers..Frank
