Default DEADRISE???

ok, maybe i am kinda dopey but could somebody please explain deadrise to me? please? i know it has something to do with the hull but dont know where the measurement actually is.

Fish,

I'm no pro but I'll take a shot, if I'm wrong I'm sure I will be corrected. The deadrise angle is measured at the transom. It's the "V" on the hull at the stern. The angle measured from the horizontal plane.

My understanding is typically the sharper the deadrise(bigger number i.e. 24 deg) the better the "ride" will be, but will roll quite a bit while drifting and such. The less deadrise angle (flatter the bottom of the boat) the more stability while drifting, if you could stand the ride out in any kind of sea.

007, you are right....I THINK the v20 has a 20 or 21 degree deadrise

If I'm not mistaken, deadrise can refer to any point along a hull's bottom forward or aft, but I think when you just say "deadrise" it does mean at the transom.

I've heard people say "deadrise at entry" which I took to mean forward. Just thinkin out loud.

MAC, good link, while there I looked the proper spelling for "gunwale" ,gunwhale, gunnell, etc. etc., it has plauged me for months.
