Love em both Question is this, for you guys that have been doing it awhile, do you keep the oil you used and if so how, do you filter it? store in original bottles? Read somewhere due to trans fats it is very un-healthy to do but is it bad if I save it to use once more for Christmas? Let me know the skinny will ya

I strain and save it, I use cheese cloth or similar. I store it in my shed so it stays cool, that way bacteria doesn't grow. My dad has done it forever this way and I've been doing it since I started and we have never had a problem. I just fried 2 turkeys Thursday and that's what I did to use again for xmas. Lee

OK to save it. If I remember correctly the paper said a batch of peanut oil will last 4-6 birds. Something like that.

Sounds like it's good until it goes rancid. Here are a few answers which may help.

I'm guessing that the container it's being poured in should be smaller than the original so that less "air" is trapped in the container? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6221127AA8upTI http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0074609AACv4WD |

i don't even strain mine. i pour into 2 qt plastic juice containers and store in refrig on back porch. i use it all up in about 6 months. i just pour out until dregs start to come toward neck of bottle. after i've used it a time or two. i dump in a 5 gallon pail with lid and give to my friend who makes bio diesel for his mowers out of it....
