Default Fishing report finally....

;D Hey, the boat still floats. ::) Hammer, in my haste to post the boat porn the other day I left the memory card in the puter, so, no pix tongight.

Left the dock at 300pm looking for large flat thangs. On the way out I encountered huge schools of bunker. Stopped to have a little fun, and boy did I. I caught a few snapper blues that got saved for bait, a few bunker that went in the cooler as well. Then things got interesting. I had a pair of cobia hanging out behind the boat. I tossed a white bucktail that was on a smallish rod at them, they weren't that big.....well, as the bucktail started to sink, this thing arose from the depths. I couldn't believe what I saw, but I knew that I was screwed....this cobia had to go close to 100lbs, and he sucked down that bucktail. Well, when he felt the hook, he decided to get out of dodge. I fought him for about 35 minutes before the leader chafed through :( Oh well, live and learn. I went on to chase a few flatties. Had 9 fish from 19 to 24 inches, all tagged and released tonight. Also had a few smallish sea bass. Had two other cobia sightings for a total of 5 seen. Perty night on the ocean fer sure. Coming in around dark, a buddy of mine in a 31 Contender caught up to me, I gave her a little more throttle, then he left me like I was standing still ;) All in all a good, no, great night.

Cobia were about 2.5 miles off the beach. There is a lot of life between Chinc shooals and Turners Lump. I had some marks that I thought may b]have been trout, but no takers on a jig...

The Frances Fleet out of Point Judith, RI reported a cobia caught on one of their boats this weekend! This is the first one ever on any of their boats.....
