Default 8/12/07 Fluke Trip

We headed out of Woodstock Ct at 2 AM Sunday, arrived at Point Judith at 4 AM, launched by 4:30. The ocean was calm and the wind was 5 knots. It was looking to be a gorgeous day on the water and we were psyched. As we were making our way down the coastline to Misquamicut I looked back and seen the most beautiful sunrise I have witnessed in a long time. The sun was bright cherry red and on fire!

We fished from 5 AM till 5 PM and only two keeper fluke(both 20") but we threw back at least 40 fluke all ranging in the 16"/18" length. :'(
Son's buddy caught a real nice scup about 16" and I caught a nice size seabass but nothing to bust any record. All in all, we had a great day and a lot of fun.

Shawsee.....you are going hardcore on us here! Leaving the house at 2 am???? That is dedication! Glad to hear you caught a bunch of fluke......too bad there were so many shorts. I am surprised a bit by that.....how far down Misquam did you get? The sunrises are so nice out there.....

Great report and excellent sunrise shots. I've been known to go hard core too. The last trip I did I left at noon on Friday and drove 3.5 hrs, got up Saturday morning and fished all day, left at 6pm and got home Saturday night at 9:30pm. It just takes some dedication and a strong desire to go fishin! I got totally skunked on that trip. :'( But I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks guys, we sure did have a blast.

Kevin,

We were fishing out in front of the carousel area where the bumper car building is located, I believe. We could see Watch Hill easy from where we were but never did make it down to there. The beach at Misquamicut was packed with folks later that day. :o

Sean, he did keep the scup
