My port side dash had two layers of vinyl floor tiles glued to it. I spent about 2 hrs getting all the glue off of it with acetone. Now I have to fill all the holes and mount my new (to me) fishfinder over there.
I was going to use the stuff HAMMER sent me to just recover the dash, but I am worried that the black will overheat the fishfinder. I am thinking that I will fill the holes with Formula 27 and then paint. Before ![]() ![]() Now ![]() This will have to be mounted on the port dash. ![]() Any thoughts?

Randleman, you may want to use something else then what I used. I noticed a small spot on mine not sticking. "two bubbles". Not unless you used some of that 3mm spray glue. I should have taken the time to patch my holes. But for now, its ok. Be carefull when or if you use that 3mm spary its strong stuff. I should have used more, but once you spray it on, you gotta have six pairs of arms to get her down on the first try.
You could patch and repaint or just cover it over with some thin starboard.

R'man...will the Si-Tex sit just behind the widshield support so you access the controlls to right of support and view screen left of it...if so, that's what I'd be shootin' for...right in that front corner...JMHO... ;) ...

Yep, just like Phat has his, I took it out and fitted it yesterday, I can reach the buttons without having to get out of my seat, which is good cause I get wedged in there pretty good.

That's where my Furuno 600L is. Fill the holes with your choice of filler, then get a spray can of genreal purpose adhesive. I used "shelf liner" from the domestic section of WalMart. You will want "something" on the dash, and starboard ain't it. Get something that is nonslip, so that when you toss a jig, or bottle of sunscree or whatever up there, it'll somewhat stay put.

Here's a couple pics that show mine. Of course, one is a little too far away, and the other is just a little too close ???

Is that a laptop next to the fishfinder?

Yep, that's what controls my onboard network, linking all my electronics, nav data, real time weather, sea surface temp, side scan sonar, and a hot link to WellcraftV20.com.....
or maybe it's just a plano tackle box that hold the daily critical items for any given fishing trip, terminal tackle, swivels, assorted hooks, sinkers, and whatever jigs or rigs may be being used at the time ;D

I liked the first explanation better.
You should have added that you found a way to make ocean water act as your network cable, by placing a special transmitter box under your dock.
