hi guys,
im new here. Iown a 1991 wellcraft 18 ccf . I just had the transom and stringers replaced. Now 2 years later im trying to figure out if deck is ok. When i walk on the floor it flexes. Its not bad..just a little give.. but i want to prevent it from getting worse. From what i can tell the core is good. I really dont want to remove the top again. I been reading about cpes and laminating epoxy. What i thought i would do is drill small holes in deck and pump cpes ..then laminating epoxy to make this hard again. What you think? The floor ,so i was told,is normal that it flexes a little. Any ideas is appreciated. |

Surprised for that year you have flex. I have a 78 V that has some flex. The wood is solid, but over 30 years, the wood is no longer glued to the stringers. :-/
Welcome to the site and post pics. of what ya got. ;) 8)

I tried about what you have sugested and if you do have rotted wood that will not do much good. I ended up cutting out the bad section and replacing it. My floor had issues in that area for several years before I replaced it. If its just a little flex I'd not worry to much and just wait until it becomes an issue. I did go around and removed every screw in the floof of my boat and resealed them to help prevent any furture damage.

Cut the floor out and save the skin, add new wood and reglass the floor back on, will look fine.

Can use a saw and go all the way around the edge of the boat. lift floor out in one piece.
It will have a bunch of 5x5 squares of ply, clean all wood off skin, use full sheet plywood 3/4 to make your new floor, after you are done you glass the skin to the ply and sides of the boat you good to go. as far as the rest goes ask skools hammer and a host of others the best way. skools did a floor just a while ago, ck out this thread. http://www.wellcraftv20.com/cgi-bin/...386145;start=0

thanks,
maybe they will come along and help out with answer. i read the link thanks. seems to me it would be easier cutting the floor but leave the bottom skin on..peel the top off..get rid of ply.sand it to get some bite. put a thin coat of resin ..laydown ply..put top skin on same way..then fiberglass top back in . put im new so maybe someone can help out.. :-/ |

DONT KNOW IF YOU DID THIS YET, BUT USE A NEW BLADE WITH A LOT OF SMALL TEETH AND VERY THIN, IT WILL MAKE A VERY SMALL GROVE. ALSO COVER THE AREA WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO CUT WITH BLUE TAPE,
IT WILL PREVENT THE GELCOAT TO CHIP. (SHIPSHAPE TV) LESTERUS |
