Another battery question

What kind of battery do you guys use to run your electronics ?? How many do you have ?? Thanks

I have dual batt's with a switch. Both are deep cycle from sears I think. I lot of people are going to the new sealed batteries but they can be $$$$$$$$$$$

I buy Car batterys, run to toghter, die toghter, charge toghter.

Marine Batterys are a Joke, You pay twice as much and get 1 or 2 years warr.

Car batterys 1/2 the price last twice as long, and if you get a good one you get like 2 or 3 year free replacement, with 5 or 6 years total warr!!

Deep Cycle is not a good choice as they charge different then starting batterys.

Car battery ??? You have got to be kiddding :o ??? Never would of thought that. Do you have a seperate battery for your electronics ?? Do you have a problem crancking your boat ??I just seem to be going through batteries like mad.

I have never had a problem in 6 years and only have had 2 batterys in that time ;) One is dead now and I might just replace both cause they both 6 now.

But thats just me, I know others will hate what I have said, but it works for me!!

Parrot, if your going through batteries like mad, something is wrong. Either bad connections or bad cables somewhere. Food for thought...

I agree with MJ. The way he perceives batteries is more rational that others. A guy I know with a Contender and insists on dry cell batteries and changes them every two years. Generally if you depend on changeing the batteries every two years where is the rationalization in spending excessive money on batteries? Also most charging systems are not designed for deep cycle batteries. The best thing to do is determine the amp draw of your starter and go from there (automobiles do this).

I'm a Die Hard guy and I do not have a problem with using car batteries but I do feel that you get what you pay for. If your buying cheap batteries you will always have an issue. I get a good 3 to 4 years out of my batteries. The best I ever had was two of those cheap Boater World brand they went for 3 years then the boat sank and after sitting under water for a few hour they still had a charge and lasted another 2 yrs. I guess I just made an argument against the better battery sugestion. Oh Well.

Just don't buy Walmart Battery's, they have a 2 year free replacement, but you will have to use it every time!!

Sears, Interstate, Guardian, are the 3 I use normally. I just look for a 60 month Battery with a 1 or 2 year free replacement

I have 2 ea. 1000 amp marine starting batteries (Boater's world) with an onboard charger and battery switch. They were $56.00 each. I'm starting my fourth season with them. When one fails, they will both get replaced. I keep the switch on at least one battery when it's in the slip for my bilge pumps.
