I was talking to a guy the other day that has a sea cat, I saw one for sale was going to ck it out.
This guy said I would not be happy, they are great in the water while running, they suck when drifting, and in a ruff sea one side is always lifting while the other isn't.

But it looks good anyway!!

Better test one out for yerself, MJ ... done a lot of time on my buddy's cat in some tuff seas and never had probs like that ... have ya ever been out on one?...does take some gettin' used to, cause they don't angle in on turns, but the one I've been on is an EXCELLENT fishin' boat trollin and driftin'...

I have been on two diffrent model Cats and love them, they do give a strange feel at first when you expect to bank into turns, took me all of two turns to get used to it.
When you are in a normal chop we get here in anything less than a 24 degree deadrise boat about 25 feet you get the standard bump bump bump no matter how you trim it. Wtih a 22 foot Cat we went thru it like we were on a small calm lake.
It drifted just fine also. A little diffrent sensation but again it took two waves to get used to it.
They will handle big seas and get you back into eight inches of water, they will fly with two 60-115 horse motors and sip fuel like they love ya. If I had the money it would be my first pic for a larger boat also.

I've heard they ride super nice going into a sea or riding with a sea, but they tend to hook if you try to quarter a sea. I've never experienced it myself, just what I've heard.

Mono hulls have their share of problems too. And it all depends on the hull. Some cat hulls are better than others I'm sure....here I am talking like I am some expert but in fact I've never ridden on a cat....Hey Reel, call your buddy up - I want to ride on one ;D

No better, no worse, just different....that's my take. I've had the oppurtunity to fish a SeaCat, a 26 Glacier Bay, and a World Cat 33TE, and I'd be happy to own any of them

I have always heard that they are great drifting as the seperate pontoons give it better stability.

That's right...guys, there's no question everybody's not gonna like a cat ... and some of the stories I've heard are a little "over the top"...but time spent on the Pro Cat I've been on has been mucho impressive and the fuel economy is awsome ...my buddy's 28'er regularly goes to the stream and back at a smooth 26 kts (60-65 miles out) on 90 gals of regular ... that's at 3500 rpms 8) ... as stable a fishing platform as you could ever wish for and DRY ... and the only mfgr I've ever heard of screwin' up the cat concept is Grady White ...
