Default Why so few hard tops on cuttys

I'm thinking about a hard top on my boat. How come there is so few on v20's? Is it the price and we are a bunch of cheap O's? Is it worth the investment? Looks like it would be around 2800 to get one.

My reaon is that my V-20 is a very versatile boat. And adding a hard top would detract from that versatility. Takes away needed fishing room.

I hear ya! I feel the same but on the other hand it would be very handy in some cases. I've now got two small boys and I want to take them fishing, they would need a place to get out of the sun. A hard top will do that plus give added structure to hold onto in rough seas. A bimini will not do that, and I HATE a bimini when it is not opened up.

Any suggestions?

I can see me now falling over a damn bimini and breaking my St Croix. By the way, I grew up with a Airslot 21. It was a great boat with a soft ride.

I'm also considering putting a hardtop on my 76' v-20 cutty. I think I'm going to try and make it myself. Iv'e seen a few around and the designs are always very different. I'm too cheap to pay the money for one though. I also don't care much for a bimini.

Well on my V20 I am going to add a radar arch, likethe one that Simple Gesture has!!
It will give me the structure to hold onto in rough seas, like you say, and a place to put my rod's up out the way.
You can also add a Bimi to it and when you need it it is there and when not it will be up against the arch out of the way!
This way you get all you want and pleanty of room for what you are doing already!
Just my 2 cents worth!
