Trim Tab Report...

I finally got to splash the boat today. It was a perfect day to test the tabs. I rolled out of the harbor into a stiff SW 15 knot breeze pushing a tight chop right in my face. Pushed the box down a bit and man, it was all worth it. Now don't get me wrong, it don't ride like a 30'er, but it definately makes a nice improvement. I ran the 10 miles out to the ocean and thought to myself, I don't wan't to wreck fish that bad. It was lookin pretty sporty offshore. So, I caught a few croaker and the odd flounder, trout, sand perch and had a nice morning. She's all clean and back on the trailer, full of fuel, and ready for the 9/1 start of the fishin tourney. The tabs were a worthwhile project and very easy to install. Pics tommorrow.

I was just talking to CB weather I should go with Tab's or Hydrfoil??

id go with tabs MJ. i dont know how you would mount a hydrafoil to ur paddle.

Well just thinking about when I get a motor? *I will have to see what spring time taxes and bills bring me??

But I am getting on the water next season!!

I don't care if I have to put eletric trolling motor, and go 1 knot per hour, I am fishing!!

MJ, good things are worth waiting for, at least thats what I keep telling myself. I've had lots of time using tabs on another boat and new what I was getting into. I've been waiting for a couple years and things finally came together. The tabs are head and shoulders above a hydrofoil. Another very worthwhile benefit...in a quartering headsea / crosswind you can trim up the windward side to stay dry. Neat little trick.

Airslot, did you go with the Lenco or Bennet? I was considering the electric tabs since my boat is not left in the water more than a day at any time. Thanks, Barry

I here good and bad from both.

Lenco are easier to install and control and no oil to deal with.
But they are electric and have to small of a motor, if you try to adjust both sides at once you will burn out the motor quick. And they are slow moving.

Bennett, work fast and toghter with no problems

But they are harder to install and some have had problems with oil leaks and pumps?

I like the simplicity of Lenco, but the power of the Bennet.

Somebody draw me a picture ???
I can understand why a boat with a single or double screw would need trim tabs, but a boat with an outboard ??, I thought trimming up the motor does the same as trim tabs. Od do the trim tabs fix the problem when you have to much weight on one side ??? ???
