Default Talk about fuel economy!

I just got back from an all day striper fishing trip out into the Chesapeake Bay with a freind of mine and or sons. We totaled 56 miles on my gps. I just fueled up and I only burnt 20.5 gallons, lovi'n that!

2.7 miles per gallon

Oh yeah we managed 3 keepers, nothing big but it was a wonderful day with my little guys(ages 7 and 11).

That is great numbers, can't ask for much better.

Hey, I was out there, too! 8)

Were you fishing the CBBT? We hit a few scattered keepers a mile oceanside from the high rise, and then chased birds for the rest of the day around the 3rd and 4th islands. They were all smalls, though. Had fun on light tackle...prolly caught 40 fish or so. We were in a 23' Parker center console.

I was at the CBBT all day 12/17 in the V-20. Probably be back down after the first of the year. Last time down we started the boat at 7:30 am and cut her off at 3:15pm. We only went something like 25 miles but we never cut her off as we were working the pilings. We used 19 gallons for the day. I generally get 3 to 3.5 cruising at 3900 rpm. 87' V w/ 88 Merc 150, ss prop 17 pitch.

Yep, I was out there with you. I launched from Messick Point in Poquoson, headed for Thimble Shoals, out to the 3rd and 4th island, over to Cape Henry, back to the 3rd and 4th and then back to the boat ramp. We were working the same birds at the CBBT. So many birds, never did mark any bait and very scattered fish. If you guys go again soon, I've heard ther's a pretty good bite up at Plantation Light right now.

Good question about the 4 stroker. I've been thinking that heaven forbid the Merc go KABOOM, I've got three choices. Another carbed merc, an Optimax, or a 150 Honda. My neighbor is a Merc dealer so I've got an in there. I was offered a deal on a 150 Verado but the dam thing is a pig. Weighs about 149#'s more than what I've got now.
