Default Center console

Where do you mount your batteries on your center console boat? Whoever had this boat pulled the battery cables when they removed the motor. It doesn't appear to have been mounted under the console. There are two thru hull fitting on the right hand side of the transom that are not connected to anything. Any ideas on what these are for. This is a 1976 model boat.

if they were mounted in the rear of the boat, there should be something on the flor were they straped them down??

Were do you want to mount them?? *Do you have room in the Conole? that would be a great place for them and will center there weight.

You can mount in the rear and put in some nice boxes and strap down tight, put toghter or one on each side of the boat?

The question is not were we put thm its were would you like them to best fit your needs?

Good Luck

I've had 1 Whaler , 1 Aquasport and 4 Mako center consoles and they were all under the console. My little Mako 17 only has one under the console but the others had two with a battery switch...Frank

On my 84" the battery is in the rear under the splash well. The pro to this, as everthing has pros and cons, the shorter length of cable to carry the high amps for the starter, which also means less voltage drop.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I will mount them towards the back to cut down on the cost and length of the cables if I were to install them under the console. Thanks.

Both of my batteries are located in the starboard side box at the stern, bought it that way. I do have a slight starboard list. I'd suggest NOT rigging this way. Either put one on either side or keep them closer to the center line, like in the console.

One of these days I am going to move one to the port side box.
