It may seem thought less to give gift cards but to me I had rather receive a gift card from someone who isn't around me a lot, or knows what I am into. Some one just recently gave me a new rod and a stretch 30 lure, these gifts will be used and charished for many years to come, but had that person not known me very well I could have gotten another pair of socks. Dont get me wrong, I need socks too.
I prefer to give a gift instead of a card but when shopping for some one who has everything I had rather give a gift card to a store where I think they can find something they will like. That way they can get what it is they want and not what I think they want. In the past I have gotten both socks and gift cards and thought highly of both. If it weren't for the gift of socks I would not have any now, since they are not what I think about when I walk into Wal-mart or Gander Mountian. I may sound as if I am contradicting myself, but what I am saying is its more important that you are thought of enough to have some one spend there hard earned money on you then what they give you. It's the thought that counts. Turbo

I give cash to everyone!! My wife hates it! You need to shop she says!! I say know cause I have no idea what they want!!
I don't know how many things I return every year from people that have no idea what I like or what size I wear and so on!! Cash is the deal!! Then I can by what I want and need, Like the up coming season, I need some line, hooks, pay for boat, trailer, camper, and commercial lic & registrations.

I'm down with the cash too. ;D Cash always fits and you never have to take cash back. Cash doesn't wine or cry or tell you that you gotta wear it.... :-/

i gave my buddies 3 kids gift cards from best buy this year....they were happy as hell...come to find out they had been pooling their $ to buy the new PS3 from best buy.
i know i used to love getting cash for xmas....beer,cigs and herb cost money !! lol

I knew what one daughter wanted and that was wrapped and under the tree ...but the other was a mystery; she's already got the electronics, so I wrapped up a C-Note w/ a pair of earrings ... BINGO!! ;) ...

I say yea to gift cards, getting and giving.
My wife pulls her hair out every year trying to get that special gift for nieces and nephews, I tell her do the gift card thing and they can get more after Christmas of what THEY want during the sales. I don't know why the women folk always want to shop for that special thing. This year I had an issue ( I will describe in a later post, MSBHAMMER already knows) so my wife finally did the gift card thing and she realized how much stress was eleviated from her and eveyone who got cards where happy and appreciative.
