Default New here, just adquired a 1984` V20

Hi, my name is Johnny Torres, from sunny Puerto Rico.

Her new name is "PESTANAS", or "Eyebrows" in spanish.
99 Yamaha 200 like new, hull in fair detail condition, but solid and complete, all stock and original. Almost no electronics, and what she`s got does not work. $6000.
What a dream !!!
Smooth, solid, simple, we plain LOVE her !!!

Have a question; The cabin roof ( where the sliding door is ) looks like is sinking in the door area, so the water on top of the cabin roof runs inwards instead of outwards. I have the feeling it is supposed to be raised in the middle, or at least leveled. Am I right ?

Will post pictures soon.

Welcome!!

Sounds like the two walls under the dash, on both sides is rotting and falling.

You will have to remove and add new wood there, easy fix!!

I don't know if you have Starboard there ans what the cost is but thats the way to go!!

Here is a pic of mine, I have done this repair with 3/4 Starboard.

Welcome to the fold! Being as it's an '84, he don't have that same setup as far as the walls go. Does it have a rod going from the back side of the bow eye up to the cleat on the top of the bow? It's inside. If it does, it could be the deck has pulled away from the screws on the cleat. Mine did that, the cleat stuck up above the deck about an inch. I cut a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate about 6" square, bored a hole in it big enough for the rod, removed the rod with the cleat attached, pushed the new plate onto the rod and ran up 2 new stainless nuts behind the plate, reinstalled the rod and tightened it up, then I ran the bolts and plate up to the underside of the deck until it was snug up to the bottom of the cleat and tightened the second nut up to the first. It's good and tight and very solid now.

Welcome to the site, congrats on the V.
When adjusting the wall supports, pay close attention to how the windshield opens and closes. Usually you can't measure and level to achieve the correct height.
Raise (or lower) the supports till the top of the windshield is even (and opens and closes easily), this will be the height basis for the new supports.

fry, is that all that holds the deck in the newer stuff??

If so I am glad to have the old boat!! I have the same cleat and the rod rotted off years ago, I can stand on my deck with ease, and I am over 300 pounds!

I still say the supors what ever they are at the dash is were the problem lays!!

jjj,
tsubaki has a good point, lift dash till you get right height and the windshied lines up, that will be youe measure

Welcome to the sight jjj!!...does the center-glass to the windshield fit into place when closed?...if so, it's not the support under the dash...your 84 isn't like mine and MJ's at all ... can the area around the sliding hatch support your weight w/out hearing cracking sounds or more sagging?...

show us some pix so we can better help ;) ...

Nope, we just don't have the same walls under the dash as the older boats, it's all one piece molded into the liner, nothing is seperate. There is a good possability that all the wood under the cuddy roof is rotten causing the sag, like when the floors go soft.

Thanks a lot everybody !!!

I will look under the cabin tonight. For now, the windshield looks alligned and opens and closes perfectly.
I can see how the cabin roof is pushed down when my kids get on the top. I am very concerned. That`s #1 priority now. Tonight I will take pictures of the inside of the cabin and show them here.
Thanks for the photo macojoe, thats one sharp and clean deck/boat.
