Question 2006 ETEC 60hp no oil alarm

Hey guys, I have a 2006 60 hp etec on my pontoon boat. When I took it out of the water the no oil alarm showed its ugly face. It has the oil tank under the cowling, which was nearly full.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what might cause it and what might be involved in fixing it? Also, if is complicated, wondering if just disconnecting the oil injection and going with premix might be an easy option on this motor?

Thanks,
Blue

Don t know about evinrudes, but merc s of that size have have issues with oil tank alarm failures. The alarm is built in the tank and comes as one unit.

If not too costly and it s reliable, i d try to keep the injection system intact. I think 2S run better when not oil rich

Hopefully Spare will be along with some real knowledge.

I just read where it isn't possible to bypass it because the way it injects the oil in each cylinder? Saw also where maybe it could be the oil pressure sensor? Agree with you phat about leaving it intact if it is reliable. I haven't hear of any widespread issue with the oil injection failing with etecs, but suppose that is possible.

If you're like me you hate it when a computer tells ya you can't do something that should be really easy! That drives me up the wall! Like my old Honda foreman 450 electric shift. I ended up bypassing the computer because it wouldn't shift. Best thing I ever did!
