Default My old Hydra Sports

Went on CL and found my old HYDRA-SPORTS for sale. He's asking alot more for it than I sold it to him for, but he did go through and redo the wood and stuff on it. But he sure let the trailer go to crap. It was all redone when he got it from me about 4 years ago, and it looks to be done for. Brought a tear to my eye seeing her again, even if it is only a for sale ad. Maybe one day I can afford another offshore boat.

Thumbs up

Nice rig Ferm.

He threw good money after bad spending that much for new axles on that trailer. EZ Loader galvanized square tube trailers seem like they rust from the inside out from the ones I've dealt with.

It's the season too, maybe he's just fishing for someone with money to spend.

The trailer was getting rough when I sold it to him, but it was still very useable. You can tell he didn't rinse it well with all the rust up near the tongue. Hopefully she lives on and serves yet another owner. And I can personnaly attest he's WAY under rating the engine. That sucker was pumping out 250 at the prop when I sold it to him(or better). I could run mid 50's in that sucker loaded out even with the large diamter prop on it. That boat was one WICKED ride jumping on plane. It just wasn't right for a boat of that size and weight to throw you jumping on plane. I better stop, I may go rob a bank so I can get her back. Have I mentioned I miss her.

Yes and no. many people think the hull was layed up with kevlar, and it wasn't. What HYDRA-SPORTS did was use kevlar strips in the strakes and areas where the stringers atatched to give a stronger joint in spots where the hull wasn't flat or stressed. So pretty much all of the vectors had kevlar in them, but not like most people think. Another thing I found that was weird about this hull was it had a composite transom in it from the fatory. Not a foam one, but a ceramic one. But the rest of the hull was wood cored. I know the 86 I had for parts was all wood, but this one had a grey ceramic in the transom when I checked it.

I glad you clarified the Kevlar construction claim on these hulls...

And that ceramic tranny core...all the ceramic I ever ran across had ZERO flex to it...about as much as a coffee mug...was it that type ceramic material?
