If anyone has redone transom from outside, without reusing outer skin. How many layers of biax 1708 did you use? Did you use mat also?
I am moving along with my repair and want to be sure im on the right track. I've put 6 layers of 1708 on outside now and it seem like i will need some more. I'm learning about fiberglass repair as I go so thanks for any advice. Keith Last edited by Johnsonboat; 01-27-2014 at 07:08 PM. |

Are you pretty much working on it every day over at Hinckley? I'm not doing anything this week and would love to stop by and check it out.

Well, for an update. I ended up with 9 layers of 1708 and 1 layer of mat to get about 1/4 to 3/8" which was the same thickness as the wellcraft glass. The transom is 2" thick now.

Sounds like it should be plenty.
