Hi all first post here
I just picked up a 73 v20 cuddy with the merc 165hp inline 6, the motor is FWC and runs great, lots of new parts, same with the drive. The boat needs a deck and cosmetics but is useable once I have rewired. I plan on picking away at the boat gradually getting it back to pristine condition. My first question is on the steering, the boat currently has an antiquated rideglide which has a lot of slop in the helm and the wheel is loose and way to big. I am looking to replace the steering to allow a new wheel and improve what is there right now. My only prior experience is with outboards and hydraulic steering. I emailed Teleflex and they recommend rack and pinion either with or without the no feedback depending on how much feedback the current set up gives. I am not putting the boat in the water until the steering is replaced so am not sure how much feedback the 165hp sterndrive gives. Any help would be great, thanks,Liam |

Completely agree with MJ. No Feedback is the way to go.
