Steering Question

Hi all first post here
I just picked up a 73 v20 cuddy with the merc 165hp inline 6, the motor is FWC and runs great, lots of new parts, same with the drive. The boat needs a deck and cosmetics but is useable once I have rewired.
I plan on picking away at the boat gradually getting it back to pristine condition.
My first question is on the steering, the boat currently has an antiquated rideglide which has a lot of slop in the helm and the wheel is loose and way to big.
I am looking to replace the steering to allow a new wheel and improve what is there right now.
My only prior experience is with outboards and hydraulic steering. I emailed Teleflex and they recommend rack and pinion either with or without the no feedback depending on how much feedback the current set up gives. I am not putting the boat in the water until the steering is replaced so am not sure how much feedback the 165hp sterndrive gives.
Any help would be great,thanks,Liam

Get the No Feed back!! You won't be sorry, like having hydraulic after!

Completely agree with MJ. No Feedback is the way to go.

If you don't have power steering you definitely what the no feed back.

no, go with teh uflex accurra no feed back system ,it far better than the teleflex system, With teh teleflex, it feels like you have to break it loose before it moves, teh Uflex uses planetary gears to prevent feedback. If you can't find one, let me know
