Default Steering rod thing not sure of name..

I got the motor mounted last week, and was getting ready to hook up the steering when I realized I need that rod that connects to the steering arm that moves in and out of the tube, and to the arm on the motor... Anyone know what this is called, and where I can get one? Also, the steering was formerly mounted on the other side of this motor. Is that switchable? Thanks guys.

Steering connector (rod, link, bar) depending on manufacturer.
Most boating places carry them, depending on length needed, motor type, etc. Our local hardware store even has them on the shelf.
Only thing about swapping sides might be the tilt tube threads being long enough or not.

Now would the steering operation be reversed also???

The part of your motor that's in the front near the transom is called the tilt tube. It's the round pipe part of your motor that connects the motor to the clamp that's bolted onto your transom. The motor pivots up and down on this tube, hence it's name....tilt tube. Your steering cable goes thru this tube and is held in place by a nut that screws onto the tube. The threads that the nut screws onto are the tilt tube threads.

I don't believe I've ever seen a steering cable come in from the port side
