My 91 V20 cuddy does not have that matting, but I had similar stuff on my 1985 Formula. I tried gluing it back down but it kept coming back up. I ended up just removing it.

I thought about removing it, but I'm afraid that the area wouldn't clean up good from all the old glue.

I used a plastic putty knife when it was good and hot out and the glue came right off for the most part.

I would try and keep it. It does sort of help things from sliding around when you are under way.

I remove mine during the restore last year, the Gel was smooth under if I remember correctly and I did pull it off on a very hot day ..
