Question battery relocation on 84 fisherman to c/c ?

i'm considering relocating my single 12 volt battery fromm the rear bilge area to the someplace in the center console area on my 1984 fisherman. i would like to reduce the weight in the stern. Has anyone done this?

I havent done that but I was wondering where I would put a second one if I ever installed one.

Yes, Installed 2 batteries under console. Console was seriously altered from original. It moved a good bit of weight forward for the bracket. Would you store it under the bench in front or do away with the factory shelf/footrest. wellcraft 20v 004.jpg

Strap it down good in the forward bench...I wouldn't compromise the footrest...you might need to look at increasing the size of the wiring from motor to battery as you will definately be increasing the length...

I agree. Wire size needs to be stepped up for the long run. I went 1/0 from the battery switch back to the transom (overkill) terminating at a power post and smaller 4GA thru the transom to the motor. My rigging tube is different from stock, larger diameter, straight run and lots of room.
If your boat is stock you may run into issues getting the wire pulled thru.
My run was about 12' to the transom and another 6' from there to the motor. 2ga would have probably been sufficient for my entire run. Check out the 3% voltage drop table as published by West Marine.
