One of my other passions. . . . . .
i have always loved riding. i used to ride to and from work before i was married (aaahhhh. . . . the good old days). round trip approx. 50 miles per day.
i've ridden to montauk several times and averaged about 300 to 500 miles per week. i just picked up my first "fixie". it has a fixed gear which means when the wheels are spinning the pedals are as well.  i call it the cannibal.

Charlie, what needs to be fixed on this one? Looks to be in nice condition, but I'm speaking as a greenhorn. Are you going to add more gears?

send in the clowns.
grace, fixed gear means that when the wheels are spinning the pedals are turning as well. you cant coast with a fixed gear bike. you are constantly spinning the pedals. there is a method of braking called skidding which take some practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxFOBmO1CLg this is basically a track bike. it weighs in at 18.5 pounds and will be about 15.75 when i'm finished with it.

Ohhhhh..... duh..... now I get it. "Fixie" refers to the fixed gear. Sorry, I'm a little slow this morning. :-)
