Default 07/25/07 - Time for a change

Well we have been hitting the stripers hard since May and today it was time for a change. 8)Sunny, S/SW winds around 5 to 10 knots and a Bermuda high sitting off the coast, PERFECT fluking weather! ;D ;D Headed out around 4pm (after work) and fished to a little after sunset. A few beers, a few Fluke and a great time. We even managed to land a few small sea bass for the table as well.
Nothing close to one of MJ's cooler shots but here you go..

If you look @ the left hand corner there is even a Sea Robin in there, we kept it in case we ran out of bait and forgot to feed her to the Gulls ;D

my best for the day, was a litle under 26 inches, not this fish in the picture as my buddy took the three bigest fish with him, but here is the biggest that made it home with me :D ;D around 24 inches

All fish had to be over 19 inches and my buddy had the fish of the day @ around 28. We had a BLAST ;D

CY,

Lately we have been throwing back fluke anywhere between 16" & 18.5" which really does suck to release a fish that nice. Most of them are fatties too! I have yet to catch a keeper this year which is 19" from last year which was 17.5" :-/ So dang tempted to keep just a few shorts, but it's not worth the trouble you can get into. ::)

Shawsee, I have heard of some decent fish over that way. Look for some structure, find some lobster pots in 30-60ft of water they are always a good indicater of structure.
Better yet, ditch Point Jude and head on over to my kneck of the woods ;D ;D

Nice job Sean.

I'm jealous ;) Did you get the seabass while drifting for fluke?

I wish I lived near the coast so I could get more time on the water...

Bass,

It's a two hour drive for me one way. No matter where I go, Rhode Island, Connecticut, or Cape Cod in Buzzards Bay. Sometimes ends up being 2.5 to 3 hrs if there is heavy traffic. Needless to say I only make it once a week, weather permitting.

Sean,

I do want to try out your way soon also and I also plan on trying where Whale goes at Fisher's Island area. We are midway thru the summer season and I must act soon before it's too late. ::)
