			Might work ok, I'd say it is on the low end of what you would want for HP.

			I've owned two different mariners, a 4hp and a 30 hp and both did good by me.  I think an 8hp would be just about right.

			Thanks guys,  I went and checked it out and it only has about 40 hours total on it. It looked shorter when I got there but it measured 29 inches from the mounting clamp to the bottom of the prop. Does that seem short? I wanted to just clamp it on the transom and go if possible. |

			I'd get an adjustable kicker mount and mount it to that.  It looks like a long shaft model to me; should be 20 inches from the top of the clamp to the cavitaion plate above the prop.
